Have You Got All Your Eggs in One Basket?
My Granny used to use this saying a lot. And so did my Mum.
Whilst I used to laugh about it when I was a kid, as I got older I soon learnt the wisdom behind this age-old saying.
As you’ll know from reading my thoughts here, I loved the movie, ‘The Secret’ (2006). Those of you in the know will know that the movie was set in motion by Rhonda Byrne after she had read the classic book, ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ by Wallace D. Wattles.
One of Wallace’s central principles is that you should aim to have what he calls Multiple Sources of Income. Or as Bob Proctor, one of the teachers from the movie says, “MSI’s”.
Multiple Sources of Income means that you generate income from a number of sources.
The more sources you have, the better. There is no limit to the number of sources you can have or should have.
At the last count, I had 19 and I’m not nearly finished.
What difference has this made to my life? Well they all earn me some income. Some of them earn me a number with quite a few zeros after and a couple of them earned me less than $20 in the last couple of months.
But that’s OK.
In total, they provide me with a pretty decent living. Much better than if I had just a full time job to count on. And the beauty of it is that I get to call the shots as to how much effort I put into them. Some of them are pretty much on auto-pilot.
The point I am making is that everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) should make sure that they have much more than just the one income that most people int he western world have.
When I first started doing this, I felt so relaxed over the fact that I did not have to rely on my boss and whether he might make me redundant, or whether he would give me a pay rise this year.
So the first thing I got, even before I made a single cent, was FREEDOM.
And that is priceless!
